Engine Power

You need an SUV with plenty of get-up-and-go, so you can easily merge onto highways around Graham, NC. The new Hyundai Santa Fe features a turbocharged four-cylinder engine generating 277 horsepower and 311 pound-feet of torque. Its eight-speed automatic transmission provides smooth, prompt shifts for effortless acceleration when you need it.

The new Toyota Highlander's standard turbocharged four-cylinder engine only produces 265 horsepower, so it doesn't offer as much oomph as the Santa Fe's stronger powertrain.

Interior

Hyundai is committed to creating inviting interiors with an upscale vibe, and the Santa Fe exemplifies that philosophy. Its sleek, modern dashboard has conveniently placed controls, including a twist-to-drive column shifter that opens up the center console area for storage or the available wireless smartphone charging pad. Cloth seats and a leather-wrapped steering wheel are standard, but Hillsborough, NC drivers will like the genuine Nappa leather upholstery in Calligraphy trims.

The new Toyota Highlander also has a nice cabin, but it's not quite as modern or refined as the Santa Fe. You must pay more for a higher trim if you want a leather-wrapped steering wheel.
